Costco Travel = bad! We booked travel on July 28, 2017.

I was charged $3273.63 for the trip. The travel was planned for September 5, 2017 through September 10, 2017. Due to Hurricane Irma in the Carribbean, we were forced to cancel this travel on September 1, 2017. We were issued a refund of $2873.63.

I was informed that the $400 difference between the original amount and the refund was due to a penalty assessed by Delta Air Lines. Since the time we were forced to cancel, I have called Costco Travel and Delta Air Lines on numerous occasions trying to get the balance refunded. This has been an extremely frustrating experience. Both parties are blaming the other for not refunding the full amount.

Costco claims that the $400 is a penalty ($200 per ticket) from Delta for cancelling the reservation. Delta claims that the entire ticket purchase amount of $601.xx has been refunded and that Costco must be holding the remaining funds. From a customer standpoint, this is an extremely frustrating situation.

We generally hold Costco in very high regard for products and services. However, this is our first experience with Costco travel and it appears to be our last!

Reason of review: Return, Exchange or Cancellation Policy.

Monetary Loss: $400.

Preferred solution: Full refund.

Location: 1605 NW Sammamish Rd #310, Issaquah, WA 98027, USA

I will never again book with Costco Travel or Delta. Another person has dies in the Dominican Republic today that makes 13.

Under these unforeseen circumstances the cancellation fee should be waived. Costco and Delta played the same game with me. Blaming each other. Next time book on your own.

No Costco Travel and no Delta airlines. The worst.

I agree we cancelled our trip the the Dominican due to recent news stories and Costco charged 400 airline fee, when expressing we simply wanted to change the location Costco stated we agreed to the cancellation so the airline fees are lost

SO FAR, OUR COSTCO CRUISE to PANAMA VIA NCL BOOKING/SERVICE HAS BEEN HORRIBLE! NCL REPS ARE RUDE AND UNHELPFUL.

HOLD TIMES EXCEED 1.5 HOURS FOR BOTH NCL AND COSTCO TRAVEL TO GET ASSISTANCE WITH A 4,500$ VACATION BOOKING.

FIND OTHER OPTIONS IF YOU'RE THINKING ABOUT BOOKING THIS CRUISE. NOT, REPEAT, NOT RECOMMENDED.

If you didn't read the terms of your contract prior to handing over money, you should it now:

VACATION PACKAGE CANCELLATIONS โ€“ Cancellation of your vacation package will result in supplier fees, if applicable. Cancellation of the flight(s) portion of your vacation package may be nonrefundable and nontransferable.

In some cases, the value on the cancelled airline tickets may be used to rebook future air travel at a later date. Airline fees will apply on a rebooked ticket. The rebooked ticket must be on the same airline and travel must be completed within one year of the date that the original ticket was issued. Other restrictions may apply.

Changes to the flight schedule may be allowed, subject to change fees and additional fare collection, as dictated by the airline.

Some ticket rules do not allow changes. You may be required to cancel your existing airline reservation and rebook a new reservation at applicable fares.

What does the contact say about cancellation?

I'd recommend determining exactly who is responsible; you, Costco or Delta.

And, then contact their legal department.

The party that collects the money is Costco for the fee, the party that takes said money is Delta. Delta is charging the fee.

If you talk to Delta about any third party booking the agents are trained to turn you away instantly. For example, if your seats get moved, Delta will say they cannot do anything for a third party reservation. Delta, in their contracts, state that they have final say over seat selection because its just a request.

Delta's plane, Delta's fee, Delta's decision. Good luck sir on getting them to waive the fee, in my experience i've had issues even getting them to waive the fee in the case of serious illness.
