We arrived at OAK at 2 am (ET - 11 pm local). We were exhausted - as was our 6 year old.

We just wanted our car but there was a HUGE line of people waiting. It wasn't moving. a man was at the counter for over an hour already waiting for a car. apparently Budget overbooked and didn't have enough vehicles.

They weren't communicating with ANYONE. Everyone was getting angry. Budget was making no effort to get cars there either. People were getting out of the Budget line, walking over to Dollar, renting a car, then cancelling their Budget reservation - 5 people did this while that one poor guy was still waiting for his car.

We eventually jumped out of line, rented a car with Hertz, and called Costco to cancel our reservation. We got stuck with a smaller vehicle for more money - which created problems as we were supposed to tote others around with us but we didn't have enough room.

Never again. To think this is the only reason i kept my Costco membership active.
