Not happy with Costco Travel
Booked hawaii through Costco travel. Package deal...
Resort, car, flights. United gave our seats away on connecting flight. Lost a night of hotel, and a day of rental car. Made a short 5 day trip even shorter to 4 days.
Since Costco uses United, they should be responsible since United won't take responsibility. I talked to Costco customer service, he did nothing...asked for supervisor... She did nothing. What happened to Costco always putting the customer first??
They told me I should of bought travel insurance. I told them they should take responsibility for making sure we got what we paid for. Very upsetting.
Lost a customer Costco!!

I do not understand why it is the fault of the travel agency for something that they had no control over... Costco did what they were supposed to do, you said yourself that you had a reservation.
What you did not say is why they gave your seats away. If you were waiting in line to board the plan it is unlikely that you would have lost your seat without some sort of compensation. It sounds like you were late to your connection and because you were not going to make it to your flight in time they gave your seats away. You can not blame your travel agent for you not being where you are supposed to be at the time you are supposed to be there.
If it was not your fault that you were late, then if you had trip insurance you would have gotten you money back. I don't leave my house and say "I think I'm going to buy car insurance tomorrow, because next week, I'm going to get in a 4 car pile up". If you did not get travel insurance, you can not blame your travel agent for someone else's mistake.
That is just not fair.
Costco travel service sucks. Trying to cancel a hotel reservation is like pulling teeth.
They claim that it can't be done online due to sensitive, security issues ... but they can sure take your money online when you book.
And the only way to do it - by phone - takes hours of being on hold while they hope you change your mind.
Costco travel isn't worth the hassle. Your local travel agent can find the same deals, and she or he will be way more responsive than the clowns at Costco.
